I grew up in a Western Suburb of Chicago where I grew up playing soccer for 8 years. My love for the goalie position, paired with my hatred of running long distances lead to a natural transition to volleyball in Junior High when I was taller than most girls, and all of the guys growing up.
Little did I know my 7th grade growth spurt would be the end of my growing, but my passion for the sport of volleyball grew. I loved the teamwork aspect, and thrived being in a position that allowed me to control our team's fate as a hitter. I played my 13s year at Sunsetters, then at the recommendation of a friend's parent switched to Sports Performance Volleyball Club where my team went onto win a JVA National Championship in 2008, and several personal AAU All-American Recognitions.
In November of 2006 I was told to focus my attention on top Division III Schools, or lower tier Division I schools. February of 2008 I committed to play volleyball on a full-ride scholarship to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, most likely to play Libero. I started nearly every match my Sophomore, Junior, Senior year as a 6 rotation attacker. I led the teams in kills per set my freshman year, and led the team in total kills my sophomore, junior, and senior years.
After my senior season I tried out for the Olympic team in Salt Lake City Olympic Training Center with several of my past and current teammates which was a great way to end my career. A back injury that I played through for 3 years that was getting worse prevented me from pursuing volleyball overseas. After volleyball I stayed involved with the sport in order to finish a double major, I also was the Head of Volleyball Operations my super senior year, and try to catch games whenever televised or on ESPN3. Since moving to Illinois, I have also coached a youth team at my old club as well.
